Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh
pemanasan serbuk Al pra-kompaksi terhadap sifat fisis komposit
Al/SiC hasil metode metalurgi serbuk. Penelitian dilakukan
dengan bahan dasar serbuk aluminium, serbuk silikon karbida
dan serbuk zinc stearat. Pembuatan komposit Al/SiC dilakukan
dengan menggunakan variasi temperatur pemanasan matrik yaitu
40°C, 60°C dan 80°C, serta temperatur sinter yaitu 400°C,
500°C, dan 600°C. Identifikasi sifat fisis yang dilakukan yaitu
densitas, porositas dan kuat tekan sedangkan analisa fasa dan
mikrostruktur menggunakan pengujian Difraktometer Sinar-X
(XRD) dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Analisis data
XRD dilakukan dengan menggunakan software Match!.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanasan
matrik Al prakompaksi memberikan pengaruh terhadap densitas
dan porositas. Semakin tinggi temperatur pemanasan matrik Al,
densitas komposit Al/SiC semakin tinggi dan porositas semakin
kecil. Semakin tinggi densitas sampel maka kemampuan komposit
Al/SiC dalam menahan beban atau gaya mekanis dari luar
semakin besar. Dari analisis XRD menunjukkan bahwa terdapat
fasa baru yang muncul selama proses pembuatan yaitu Al2O3-γ
dan terlihat bahwa partikel penguat SiC terdistribusi kurang
merata terhadap matrik Al dilihat dari analisa mikrostruktur
menggunakan SEM.

Have been carried out research to determine the effect of
heat treatment for Al powder pre-compaction to physical
properties Al/SiC composites by powder metallurgy method. The
research have been done using the heating temperature matrix
that is 40oC, 6 oC and 8 oC and sinter temperature of 400 oC , 500
oC and 600 oC variation. The identification of physical properties
that do is density, porosity and compressive strength while the
phase and microstructure analysis using X-Ray diffractometer
(XRD) and scanning microscope electron (SEM). The XRD data
analysis performed by using the software Match!. Based on the
result of this research, the heat treatment for Al pre-compaction
giving effect to density and porousity. For the temperature
increase for Al matrix, the density of Al/SiC increase too an the
porousity is getting small. With increasing density, ability of
Al/SiC composites in mechanical load or withstand the force from
outside is greater. From XRD analysis showed that there is a new
phase that emerged during the manufacturing process, namely
Al2O3-gamma and seen that particles less evenly distributed SiC
with matrices Al viewed from the analysis of SEM microstructure.
