Abstract

The power transformer is a very important high voltage equipment in a power plant. The work process of the transformer is often subjected to an obstacle, due to the rise in temperature occurring at the core and winding of the transformer. The increase in temperature is caused by the continuous use of the transformer, thus affecting the isolation of the transformer. The most commonly used insulation is liquid oil type insulation. Failure of isolation of other transformer oil occurs due to decreased dielectric strength and duration of transformer usage. The failure of oil isolation is related to the presence of partial discharge events. Therefore, in this final assignment, he analyzed the influence of temperature on the characteristics of pre-breakdown voltage by testing the transformer oil insulation. This test is done by heating the oil into the microwave and then tested by capturing the process of pre-breakdown voltage using high resolution camera, and done simultaneously by recording current PD on transformer oil using current transformer (CT) so that can know the characteristic of current at the moment of phenomenon pre-breakdown voltage.
The test results show that the phenomenon of pre-breakdown voltage is influenced by temperature rise on transformer oil, ie at 60OC warming temperature pre-breakdown at voltage 22kV up to 28kV, at heating temperature 90OC at voltage 26kV to 34kV, and at heating temperature 120 OC at voltage 32kV up to 42kV. The measured current at heating temperature 60 OC for 3 amperes, heating temperature of 90 OC current of 3.5 ampere and heating temperature of 120 OC measured current of 4.7 amperes.
