Abstract

================ Power system stability is the ability of power system to maintain a certain condition against the various disturbances that occurs. The inability to maintain the stability conditions will have a negative impact on the system. In this modern era, many electrical systems are connected with distributed generation (DG). In addition to reducing power loss and improving the voltage profile, DG also gives effect to the power system stability.
In this final project, the effect of DG combination on stability and power quality will be simulated using Matlab R2015a. Determination of DG installation location will be considered in final project. Then, the stability that becomes the focus of this research is transient and voltage stability, while on the power quality side observed are voltage profile, voltage index, and power loss. In this research, the method used in determining the location of DG is the analytical method by considering the bus sensitivity, for transient stability using numerical simulation method based on critical trajectory to get critical clearing time, while on the voltage stability using continuation power flow method that analyzed using the PV curve.
Based on these simulations, location of DG placement through optimization can reduce significant power loss, critical clearing time due to larger hybrid DG installation, voltage profile and voltage index increases as increases of DG power generation.
