Abstract

Sampah plastik merupakan masalah yang terjadi di Indonesia maupun dunia, karena umumnya sulit untuk terurai secara alami. Limbah melamin merupakan salah satu jenis sampah yang banyak ditemui, karena penggunaan melamin yang telah mencakup segala lini kehidupan. Ketersediaan limbah melamin ini dapat dimanfaatkan untuk dijadikan salah satu bahan penyusun material bangunan. Selain limbah melamin, batu alam khususnya marmer juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan penyusun material bangunan. Maka dari itu, dilakukan penelitian pembuatan komposit berbasis epoksi dengan variasi komposisi agregat berupa batu alam dan limbah melamin yang diharapkan dapat diaplikasikan untuk material tile. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi SEM, FTIR, uji bending, uji hardness, uji absorbsi air, uji ketahanan UV/cuaca dan uji koefisien gesek. Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan, didapatkan bahwa penambahan agregat batu alam cenderung meningkatkan sifat mekanik, sementara penambahan agregat melamin menurunkan sifat mekanik. Penambahan agegat campuran batu alam + limbah melamin menurunkan sifat mekanik. Hasil pengujian serap air ialah pada penambahan batu alam menurunkan kemampuan serap air komposit, penambahan limbah melamin mampu menambah kemampuan serap air komposit, dan penambahan agregat campuran batu alam + limbah melamin menurunkan nilai absorbsi air komposit. Seluruh variasi komposisi komposit juga memiliki ketahanan yang sangat baik terhadap sinar UV/cuaca dan nilai koefisien gesek yang baik. Dari berbagai pengujian yang dilakukan, didapatkan kuat lentur dan kekerasan tertinggi sebesar 230 Mpa dan 67 shore D, yaitu komposit dengan agregat campuran 25% melamin + 25% batu alam, dengan nilai absorbsi air sebesar 0,23%. ========== Plastic waste is a problem that occurs in Indonesia and the world,
because it is generally difficult to decompose naturally. Melamine
waste is one of the most common types of waste plastic, because
of the use of melamine has covered all the lines of life. The
availability of this melamine waste can be utilized to be one of the
materials for building application. In addition to melamine waste,
natural stone, especially marble can also be used as a material for
building materials. Therefore, the research on making epoxy-based
composite with variation of aggregate composition in the form of
natural stone and melamine waste which is expected to be applied
for tile material. The tests include SEM, FTIR, bending test,
hardness test, water absorption test, UV / weather resistance test
and friction coefficient test. From the results of the tests, we found
that the addition of natural stone aggregates can increase
mechanical properties, while the addition of melamine aggregates
decreases mechanical properties. The addition of mixed aggregates
of natural stone + melamine waste decreases mechanical
properties. Water absorption test results shows that the addition of
natural stone can reduce the ability of water absorption composite,
the addition of melamine waste can increase the ability of water
absorption composite, and the addition of mixed aggregates of

natural stone + melamine waste decreases the composite water
absorption value. All variations of composite compositions also
have very good UV / weather resistance and good coefficient of
friction values. From the various tests, the highest flexural strength
and hardness is 230 Mpa and 67 shore D,which is found in
composite with 25% melamine + 25% natural aggregate mixed,
with the value of water absorption is 0.23%.
