Abstract

Planning on the construction of a transmission line backbone using HVDC with a 500 kV drain voltage rating on the island of Borneo is an alternative means of transmission line planning in order to realize a transmission line interconnect that has adequate reliability against the challenges of growing power load growth ahead. With a reliable transmission line backbone it will realize the balance between the total generation of electrical energy generated in the upstream sector and the total amount of load required in the downstream sector. Modeling HVDC transmission lines with multi-terminal configurations will provide the flexibility of developing a transmission line backbone that is expected to support the continued planning of the development of transmission channels on the island of Borneo. Based on the multi terminal model the transmission line backbone made will be able to simulate and analyze the flow rate of power from the backbone of the planned transmission line. The result of power flow analysis obtained by newton raphson method will become the supporting data of advanced planning and development of transmission system which can be chosen based on technical aspect analysis and the theoretical aspect which is adequate.
