Abstract
Listrik merupakan sumber daya yang sangat dibutukan oleh manusia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup, listrik sendiri didapatkan dari perusahaan pembangkit listrik. Salah satu pengolahan enrgi listrik yang dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan turbin. Dalam penelitian ini ada bagian turbin yang mengalami kegagalan, yaitu material ring segment, rumusan masalah yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini adalah apa saja faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya kegagalan ring segment, bagaimana mekanisme kegagalan yang terjadi pada ring segment, apa saja hal-hal yang perlu dilakukan agar kegagalan ring segment dapat ditanggulangi. Pengujian yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah uji komposisi, makrografi, struktur mikro, SEM, EDX, hardness, dan XRD. Hasil yang didapatkan dari pengujian tersebut adalah terdapat retakan yang menyebabkan patahan, dengan hasil struktur mikro mempunyai struktur karbida. Untuk hasil uji komposisi banyak terkandung unsur cobalt, chrome, nickle. Dengan hasil uji kekerasan 310 dan 324 HVN.

Electricity is a resource that is needed by humans to meet the needs of life, electricity itself is obtained from power generation companies. One of the electrical energy processing that is done is by using turbine. In this research, there are parts of turbine that have failed, that is ring segment, the problem formulation studied in this research is what are the factors causing the occurrence of ring segment failure, how the mechanism of failure that occurs in the ring segment, what are the things needs to be done so that ring segment failure can be overcome. Tests conducted in this study are composition test, macrography, microstructure, SEM, EDX, hardness, and XRD. The result obtained from the test is that there is a crack causing the fracture, with the result of the microstructure having the carbide structure. For the compositional test results contained many elements of cobalt, chrome, nickle. With hardness test results 310 and 324 HVN.
