Abstract

Industri manufaktur skala kecil menengah kebanyakan masih menggunakan mesin konvensional dalam proses pemotongan, pengikisan, dan pemakanan benda kerja. Penggunaan mesin milling konvensional didalam industri manufaktur masih digunakan hingga saat ini, namun memiliki kelemahan yaitu kualitas bergantung pada kreativitas dan keterampilan operator. Selain itu, sulitnya pemotongan benda kerja jika diharuskan untuk menggerakkan 2 sumbu secara bersamaan. Kelemahan ini dapat diatasi dengan menggunakan otomatisasi pada Milling Machine (CNC Milling Machine) memotong benda kerja mengikuti kontur tertentu. Open loop control system merupakan sistem kontrol yang dipakai didalam perancangan CNC Milling Machine. Untuk mengontrol keseluruhan kerja sistem digunakan PC dengan software Mach3 sebagai PC Based Direct Digital Controller. Dari hasil penelitian, CNC Milling Machine hasil perancangan mampu memotong benda kerja mengikuti kontur lingkaran. Hasil pengujian pada beban minimal pada F=50 mm/min didapatkan MPE sebesar 0,0661%, F=100 mm/min menghasilkan MPE=0,235% dan F=150 mm/min menghasilkan MPE=0,2677%. Pengujian beban nominal softboard pada F=50 mm/min menghasilkan MPE=0,6718%, F=100 mm/min menghasilkan MPE= 0,82%, F=150 mm/min menghasilkan 0,82%. Pengujian pemotongan akrilik dengan F=50 mm/min menghasilkan MPE= 1,17%, F=100 mm/min menghasilkan MPE=1,703% dan MPE=3,75% pada F=150 mm/min.

Small and medium manufacturing industry mostly still use conventional machinery in the process of cutting, erosion, and feeding of workpiece. The conventional milling machine has been being used by manufacturing industry. But it has disadvantage, which is quality is depend on operator creativity and skill. This disadvantage can be overcome by using automation on Milling Machine (CNC Milling Machine) to cut workpiece following a certain contour. So the researcher is interested to make the design of setting of the position of cutting tool of Milling Machine to cut workpiece following contour of circle. Open loop control system is a control system used in the design of DIY CNC Milling Machine. To control the entire work system used PC with Mach3 software as PC Based Direct Digital Controller. From the results of the research, CNC Milling Machine that has made are able to cut the workpiece following the contour of the circle. Test results at minimal load at F = 50 mm / min obtained MPE of 0.0661%, F = 100 mm / min yielded MPE = 0.235% and F = 150 mm / min yielded MPE = 0.2677%. The softboard nominal load test at F = 50 mm / min yields MPE = 0.6718%, F = 100 mm / min yields MPE = 0.82%, F = 150 mm / min yields 0.82%. Testing of acrylic cutting with F = 50 mm / min yielded MPE=1.17%, F = 100 mm / min yielded MPE = 1.703% and MPE = 3.75% at F = 150 mm / min.
