Abstract

Stability analysis on the subsea pipeline needs to be done to know the stability of the subsea pipeline especially while it is in operating condition where the subsea pipeline is exposed to forces caused by wave and current loads and ensuring that the subsea pipeline is able to resist its buoyancy to lie on the seabed. The subsea pipeline must meet the vertical dan lateral stability criteria on the seabed based on DNVGL-RP-F109 by using the vertical stability method and the absolute lateral static stability method i.e. less than or equal to 1. In this study, an on-bottom stability analysis was performed when the subsea pipeline is in operating conditions aimed to know whether the subsea pipeline is vertically and laterally stable or not. The horizontal and vertical hydrodynamic peak load values respectively with a depth of 7.8 m are 9384,32 N/m and 7087,67 N/m, while the passive resistance value is 349.202 N/m. The stability analysis results show that the subsea pipeline meets the vertical stability criterion with a value of 0.537 while for absolute lateral static stability criterion does not meet with a value 12.76, and ANSYS CFX’s error calculation value against manual calculation is 0.04 or 4%.
