Abstract
Sistem produksi eksisting di PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., menggunakan alat pengendalian pencemaran udara berupa dust collector. Dust collector dinilai kurang efisien dalam mengendalikan partikulat terbukti dari debu fugitive yang masih bertebaran. Blast furnace PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., direncanakan menggunakan alat pengendalian pencemaran udara berupa wet scrubber. Wet scrubber sendiri adalah alat pengendalian pencemaran udara yang bekerja dengan prinsip mengkontakkan udara yang megandung partikulat halus dengan tetesan cairan (de Nevers, 2000). Diharapkan dengan alat pengendalian pencemaran udara yang baru ini emisi yang dikeluarkan sesuai baku mutu.
Wet Scrubber adalah salah satu alat yang disarankan untuk mengolah emisi industri metalurgi. Wet Scrubber menggunakan gaya inersia partikulat dan droplet untuk mentransfer partikulat dari aliran gas ke liquid. Keunggulan dari Wet Scrubber dibandingkan alat pengendali pencemaran udara lain adalah biaya investasi, operasi dan pemeliharaan yang lebih murah. Mekanisme pengumpulan dari Wet Scrubber adalah inertial impaction dan interception.
Wet Scrubber yang digunakan untuk perencanaan ini adalah venturi scrubber yang mempunyai nilai efisiensi untuk mengeliminasi partikulat sampai dengan 99%. Material lolos untuk ukuran partikel di bawah 5 µm adalah sebesar 0,122. Dengan pressure drop sebesar 10,406 inci kolom air, partikulat yang disingkirkan sebesar 87,8%.

The existing production system in PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., using a dust collector to control their emission. Dust collectors are considered inefficient in controlling particulates, as evidenced by the fugitive dust that is still scattered. Blast furnace PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., planned to use wet scrubber as their air pollution controller. Wet scrubber is an air pollution controller that works with the principle of contacting air with liquid droplets (de Nevers, 2000). It is expected that with this new air pollution controller, emissions released by the blast furnace is suitable with the quality standard.
Wet Scrubber is one of the recommended devices for processing metallurgical industry emissions. Wet scrubber uses particulate inertial force and droplet to transfer particulates from the gas stream to the liquid. The advantages of wet scrubber compared to other air pollution controller are low in investment, operation and maintenance costs. The collecting mechanism of wet scrubber is inertial impaction and interception.
Wet Scrubber used for this planning is a venturi scrubber that has efficiency value to eliminate particulates up to 99%. Material loss for particle size below 5 μm is 0,122. With a pressure drop of 10.406 inches of water column, the removed particles were 87.8%.
