Abstract
Pertumbuhan penduduk yang tinggi di perkotaan serta keterbatasan lahan
menjadi salah satu penyebab dibangunnya hunian vertikal. Beberapa penelitian
studi perilaku pada hunian vertikal menjelaskan bahwa kelemahan dan
kekurangan konsep privasi adalah dalam mempertimbangkan aspek interaksi
sosial. Selain berkaitan dengan perilaku individu, privasi juga terkait dengan
sistem sosial lingkungannya. Adanya kepemilikan bersama pada ruang bersama
hunian vertikal menjadi batasan bagi penghuninya guna berperilaku privasi.
Terjadi pertemuan perilaku privasi dan publik pada ruang bersama, sehingga ada
konflik perilaku. Hal ini menimbulkan permasalahan bagaimana konsep perilaku
pada ruang bersama akibat adanya 2 karakter perilaku tersebut. Bertemunya 2
karakter perilaku tersebut, dicermati sebagai fenomena khusus dalam personalisasi
ruang.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan karakter perilaku privasi dan
publik yang terjadi pada ruang bersama hunian vertikal Apartemen di Surabaya.
Akibat bertemunya 2 perilaku tersebut, maka perlu pula dirumuskan konsep
perilaku berbagi (sharing) guna mencermati kehadiran identitas personal
penghuni. Identitas personal merupakan aspek penentu dalam merumuskan
personalisasi ruang. Penelitian bersifat naturalistik, berdasarkan natural setting,
dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi. Observasi dilakukan dengan
cara mengamati perilaku dan jejak fisik. Untuk menggali lebih mendalam tentang
penghuni dan lingkungannya serta alasan penyebabnya dilakukan wawancara
terstruktur. Obyek penelitian adalah apartemen di kota Surabaya, yang tidak
terintegrasi dengan fasilitas publik. Hal ini menjadi batasan kualitas apartemen.
Personalisasi ruang pada ruang bersama hunian vertikal apartemen terjadi
tidak hanya pada kepemilikan tempat dan obyek namun juga terhadap subyeknya.
Identitas personal penghuni nampak ketika ada kepemilikan terhadap subyek,
yaitu ada interaksi dengan petugas atau dengan sesama penghuni serta
pengunjung. Hadirnya identitas personal dan penerimaan terhadap identitas
kelompok menjadi wujud ‘sharing identitas’ yang merupakan karakter perilaku
privasi dalam personalisasi ruang.

High urban population growth as well as land limitations lead to the
establishment of residential alternatives, namely vertical dwellings. Some
behavior studies on vertical occupancy explains that the weakness of privacy
concept includes theconsideration on the social interaction aspects. Apart of being
related to individual behavior, privacy is related tothe social system in its
environment. Shared ownership in vertical dwellings islimitting theirprivacy
behavior.There is a meeting of privacy and public behavior in a shared space, so
there is a behavioral conflict. This raises the question of how the concept of
behavior in the shared space due to the two characters of the behavior. Meet the
two characters of such behavior, observed as a special phenomenon in the
personalization of space.
This study aims to formulate the character of privacy and public behavior
that occurs in the shared space Apartments in Surabaya. Due to the meeting of
these two behaviors, it is also necessary to formulate the concept of sharing
behavior in order to observe the presence of personal identity of the residents.
Personal identity is an important aspect in formulating the personalization of
space.The research is naturalistic, based on natural setting, using phenomenology
approach. Observation is taken on observing the behavior and physical traces. To
explore further the occupants behavior and their environment and the reasons for
the cause are structured interviews. Case studies are apartments in Surabaya,
which unintegrated with public facilities. This will limit the character of the
apartment quality
Personalization in the shared space of the apartment occurs not only on the
ownership of place and object but also to the subject. The personal identity of the
occupants appears when there is ownership of the subject, there is interaction with
the officer or with fellow occupant as well as visitors.The presence of personal
identity and acceptance of group identity is a form of 'sharing identity' which is
the character of privacy behavior in the personalization of space.
