Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari aspek fisika peralatan Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) serta mengetahui kualitas produk stabilisator timah BANKASTAB menggunakan NMR 119Sn yang ada di PT Timah Industri. Pada percobaan ini digunakan 5 variasi konsentrasi 2-Ethylhexyl Thioglycolate (2-EHTG) yang ditambahkan pada produk stabilisator timah. Analisis dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan monomethyltin trichloride (MMT), dimethyltin dichloride (DMT), dan trimethyltin chloride (TMT) yang mempengaruhi kualitas stabilisator timah. Semakin besar persentase TMT pada stabilisator timah maka kualitasnya akan semakin menurun. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa hasil analisis stabilisator timah menggunakan NMR di Laboratorium PT Timah Industri menunjukkan bahwa stabilisator timah pada sampel C dan D mengandung TMT kurang dari 0,1% sehingga memenuhi persyaratan sebagai stabilisator timah yang berkualitas bagus. Sebaliknya sampel A, B,dan E mengandung TMT lebih dari 0,1% sehingga tidak memenuhi persyaratan sebagai stabilisator timah yang berkualitas bagus. Dari hasil analisis stabilisator timah didapatkan prosentase kandungan MMT, DMT dan TMT yang menunjukkan stabilisator dengan kualitas paling bagus adalah pada sampel C yang berarti semakin besar kandungan 2-EHTG maka kualitas stabilisator timah akan semakin bagus.

The aim of this research was to study the physical aspect of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and to observe the quality of tin stabilizer product, BANKASTAB using NMR 119Sn at PT Timah Industri. In this study, 2-Ethylhexyl Thioglycolate (2-EHTG) was added and 5 concentration variations of 2-EHTG was used. The spectrum analysis was performed to observe the quantity of monomethyltin trichloride (MMT), dimethyltin dichloride (DMT), and trimethyltin chloride (TMT) which affect the quality of tin stabilizers. The greater the percentage of TMT inside tin stabilizers, the quality will decrease. From the research, it can be concluded that tin stabilizers of Sample C and D contain TMT less than 0.1% thus they fulfill the requirements as good quality tin stabilizers. In contrary, samples A, B, and E contain TMT more than 0.1% thus they do not meet the requirements as good quality tin stabilizers. The percentages of MMT, DMT and TMT obtained from this study shows that the best tin stabilizer product was found in sample C which hah higher concentration of 2-EHTG. It can be concluded that higher concentration of 2-EHTG will increase the quality of tin stabilizer product.
