Abstract
Kemajuan teknologi menyebabkan permintaan akan jasa transportasi semakin meningkat seiring waktu, jasa transportasi menggunakan kapal dirasa paling efektif karena dinilai mampu mengatasi semua permasalahan. Seiring meningkatnya permintaan transportasi laut semakin meningkat pula kemungkinan pertukaran air ballast secara global, dan penyebaran berbagai macam spesies invasi seperti bakteri, mikroba, telur, dan larva yagn disebut dengan mikroorganisme juga semakin meningkat. Itulah alasan kenapa International Maritime Organization (IMO) secara resmi mengesahkan Ballast Water Managememnt (BWM) Convention yang mulai diberlakukan pada September 2017. Dalam tugas akhir ini dilakukan perancangan Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) pada kapal Gas Carrier “Gas Ambalat”, untuk memenuhi aturan yang diresmikan oleh IMO. Dari beberapa metode treatment yang yang mengkombinasikan Filtration, Ultraviolet Radiation, dan Photo-catalytic Oxidation yang akan dipilih dalam tugas akhir ini.. Untuk mendesain sistem BWTS maka perlu dilakukan perhitungan ulang terhadap tekanan pompa yang dilakukan akibat pemasangan BWTS tersebut. Pada perhitungan yang dilakukan, didapatkan tekanan yang dibutuhkan adalah 16.62 m, dengan debit air yang masih sama dengan pompa sebelumnya yaitu 350 m3/jam. Karena tekanan pompa yang digunakan lebih besar daripada tekanan yang dibutuhkan, maka tidak perlu dilakukan proses pergantian pompa Ballast untuk mengoperasikan BWTS tambahan.

Technology development causes the demand of transportation system increase time over time. Transportation services using a ship is considered as the most effective way because of more capacity can handled efficiently. As the demand of marine transportation increases, there are possibility of the ballast water to exchange globally, and the spread of invasive species such as bacteria, microbes, eggs and larvae, called as microorganism also increase. That is the reason why the International Maritime Organization (IMO) officially endorsed the Ballat Water Management (BWM) Convention, which came into force in September 2017. In this final project, the design of Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) are carried out on the “Gas Ambalat” Gas Carrier vessel to fulfill the rules inaugurated by the IMO. From the several methods of treatment, combined of Filtration, Ultraviolet Radiation, and Photo-catalytic Oxidation are choosen in this project. To design the BWTS, it is necessary to recalculate the pump pressure which is used by the new installation of the BWTS. From the calculation results, obtained the required pressure of 16.62 m, with the flow of water is still the same with the previous pump, that is 350 m3/hour. Because the pump pressure used is greater than the required pressure, there is no need for the Ballast pump to be replaced to operate the additonal BWTS.
