Abstract

The vibrations that occur around us vary according to the construction of the machine itself. There is a vibration with the direction of translation or rotation. This vibration if left continuously on a machine can result in damage to engine construction such as cracking, wear and fatigue and even breaking if the operating frequency is equal or close to the natural frequency value. In the end the engine efficiency is reduced. The research related to vibration reduction and energy absorption from one of the vibrations has been done by Faiz Imawan Dana Putra [1] about the design and simulation of cantilever piezoelectric vibration absorber (CPVA) mechanism. But the energy absorbed by CPVA is very small 0.000054 watts. So it needs another alternative in absorbing energy. Electromagnetic Vibration Absorber (EMVA) is a recommended alternative. EMVA reduces vibration and absorbs energy using the concept of electromagnetic induction. Using a 0.35 mm wire diameter and coil winding amount of 4000 windings alone provides 30.79% fuel savings compared to standard diesel engines [10]. So it can be seen that the concept of electromagnetic induction is better in the absorption of kinetic energy than piezoelectric.
In this final project, analyzing and designing dynamic vibration mechanism of adsorber and energy harvester with electromagnetic induction concept which is called Electromagnetic Vibration Absorber (EMVA). The main system to be analyzed is a flat plate supported by four springs. The main system in this study was given an excitation force by a motor that was distributed with eccentric mass and springs into vibrations. The vibrations in the main system are absorbed by the absorber mass and utilized by EMVA into electrical energy. This study only analyzes vibration reduction in translational, rolling, and pitching directions. The direction of translation is limited to the movement of the vertical axis. The direction of rolling and pitching is due to the difference in stiffness constant value on each spring. Operation frequency variation in this study used range 1 rad / s up to 100 rad / s. The variation of the EMVA point of contact is only limited to 2 dimensional coordinates which is adjusted to the largest main system vibration location. The other variation is the excitation amplitude of 0.02 m, 0.03 m, and 0.04 m as the vibration input.
The results obtained from this research are the point of placing EMVA on the main system which has the largest vibration reduction. The largest vibration reduction occurred at number six with a vibration reduction rician of 64% translational direction (10.6763 m / s2 to 3.8837 m / s2), -175% rolling direction (4.9433 rad / s2 to 13,5702 rad / s2), and 20% pitching direction 25.3822 rad / s2 to 20.1988 rad / s2). In addition, the highest anergy harvesting in number three with a voltage of 7.5452 volt and power generation 8.9232 watts
