Abstract
Salah satu cara pemurnian atau pengurangan garam terlarut di dalam air lautyang lebih besardari 1000 ppm hingga 40.000 ppm menjadi air tawar dengan konsentrasi garam terlarut di bawah 1000 ppm menggunakan proses desalinasi. Di dalam proses desalinasi, memerlukan kondensor untuk mengubah uap menjadi zat cair (air), dapat juga diartikan sebagai alat penukar kalor (panas) yang berfungsi untuk mengkondensasikan fluida. Oeh sebab itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk perancangan kondensor jenis surface condenser type shell and tube. Sebelum menentukan perhitungan dimensi terlebih dahulu menentukan variable proses yaitu massa jenis air, massa jenis uap, kalor jenis air, kalor jenis uap, konduktivitas besi, viskositas air, suhu fluida dingin input, suhu fluida dingin output, suhu fluida panas (uap) input, suhu fluida panas output. Dari hasil analisa perhitungan didapat dimensi dengan diameter shell 0.127m, panjang shell 0.8m, diameter tube 0.0127m, panjang tube 0.8m dan jumlah tube 16 buah. ==================================================================================================
One method of purification or reduction of dissolved salt in seawater that is greater than 1000 ppm to 40,000 ppm becomes fresh water with a concentration of dissolved salt below 1000 ppm using a desalination process. In the process of desalination, it requires a condenser to convert steam into liquid (water), can also be interpreted as a heat exchanger (heat) which functions to condense the fluid. Therefore, this research was conducted for the design of condenser type surface condenser type shell and tube. Before determining the dimensional calculation first determine the process variables namely density of water, density of steam, heat of type of water, heat of type of steam, conductivity of iron, viscosity of water, temperature of cold fluid input, temperature of cold fluid output, temperature of heat fluid (steam) input, temperature of the hot fluid output. From the calculation analysis results obtained dimensions with shell diameter of 0.127m, shell length of 0.8m, tube diameter of 0.0127m, tube length of 0.8m and number of tubes of 16 pieces.
