Abstract
LBS merupakan layanan yang memungkinkan pengguna telepon seluler untuk mengakses informasi yang berkaitan dengan posisi geogratis/lokasi, sehingga subscriber dapat mengetahui posisi dirinya atau orang lain (lokasi handset) dan memanfaatkannya untuk berbagai keperluan. Sebagai contoh, LBS menawarkan -melalui telepon seluler, web enabled, dan handheld device- koneksi ke berbagai layanan emergency dari berbagai lokasi; akses ke informasi lokal, seperti letak pertokoan, restauran ataupun bank terdekat; mendeteksi letak subscriber yang lain; petunjuk jalan atau informasi trafik lalu Iintas.
