Abstract

============================================================
Surabaya, as a capital of East Java, encounters high air pollution due to vehicle activities. Based on the data from Revenue and Financial Management Agency in 2015, the number of vehicles in Surabaya is accounted 3 million that had increased 14.8% since 2014, accounted for 2.6 million. As they use fossil fuel, their activities contribute to the increase of air pollution with Carbon Monoxide (CO) as one of the major indicators. This research proposes Aermod model with Line Area type to identify CO level in area Dr. Ir. H Soekarno Street. The aim of this research is to identify the concentration and dispersion of CO; while the rest of this report is to recommend the strategy of CO management.
The sample of CO gas and traffic counting is required for modelling air contaminant of CO gas which is taken by the model. To verify the model, measurement of CO gas concentration was taken in four sampling areas. The result shows that the highest density polluted location is MERR-Klampis, accounted 58,670.8 ug/m3, with dispersion radius 100 m to the northwest. On the other hand, the lowest polluted location is pointed out in MERR-Mulyorejo, accounted 12,131.1 ug/m3, in dispersion radius 150 m to the northwest. To sum up, it is suggested that the use of electric vehicle will reduce the amount of CO gas emission by 267,825.8 g/km.hour.
