Abstract

The need for reliable wireless communication has become an issue in the communication technology development in this modern era. MC-DS-CDMA as a one of communication system, offers advantages in efficiency with frequency spectrum use through multicarrier principle and a good level of information security through the principle of direct sequence. WARP (Wireless Open Access Research Platform) is one type of SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology that can be programmed to create a prototype of a wireless communication system, such as in MC DS CDMA communication system. Implementation of MC DS CDMA communication system using WARP device aimed to evaluate the performance of MC DS CDMA communication systems as well as to determine how many users are able to be served simultaneously at the time of the downlink by MC DS CDMA communication system compared to SC DS CDMA. For 63 Gold code length, the results were BER value increased along with the increased of distance between nodes. For single user transmission at a distance of 3 meters with value of gain 20 was 0, while at a distance of 5 meters with the same value of gain, the BER value was 0.0011. BER value was also inversely proportional to the PTx level, the larger the PTx level, the smaller the value of BER. For single user transmission at 5 meters distance with PTx level 10, BER values obtained was 0,0125, with PTx level 20 BER values obtained was 0.0016. The results obtained were MC DS CDMA communication system was more suitable to be applied for multiuser communication than SC DS CDMA proven with BER curve was smooth down to 20 user data transmission. BER value was similarly fell down to the increase in PTx level and Eb/ No.
