Abstract

Propeller is one of the important parts of the propulsion system of ship's sea transportation equipment, the development of the design concept on the propeller is very necessary. One of the main components of the propulsion system is a propeller, the choice of a propulsion that has good effectiveness will affect the thrust produced by the ship but besides that the important aspects of comfort and noise are the benchmarks. One type of propeller is C-Series where each has different characteristics, but because of the lack of information about its characteristics so that its presence is still very few who use C-Series. In addition to good thrust and good efficiency, another important parameter is noise, where noise can provide tumoltuous. The biggest noise source else of a ship beside from the engine room instrumentation system is propeller. A submarine, especially a navy vessel that moves below the surface, of course requires a low noise value so that the acoustic signal emitted from the propeller mechanical motion cannot be captured by the signal / transducer receiver, so it is good at reconnaissance. The rotating motion of the propeller will always produce noise. Where by using the Ffowcs Williams-Hawking equation the biggest noise is obtained with j = 0.6, j = 0.8, j = 1.0 from the simulation results is the pitch setting 1.4 + 1.6 with j = 1.0 which is equal to 150 dB at low frequencies and 108 dB at high frequencies. And the lowest noise obtained in the 1.0 + 1.2 pitch setting is 142 dB with j = 1.0 at low frequencies and 100 dB at high frequencies.
