Abstract
menunjukkan penambahan rasio TMOMS, meningkatkan
=========== Blister caused by osmosis, in which sea water seeping into the
fiberglass composite laminate structure. The purpose of this
study is to prevent osmosis in fiberglass structure by adding a
hydrophobic coating with variation of ratios of the two
monomers, namely TMOMS (hydrophobic) and PAM (salinity
resistant). Feasibility of the coating are known by some
testings, such as water absorption test with temperature
variation 15°C, 30°C, and 40°C by 1 month , 2 months , and 3
months monitoring, morphology test by SEM and visual, as
well as composition analysis chemistry with FTIR and EDX,
hardness, and thermal analysis by TGA/DSC. Results of
analysis and testing showed the addition of TMOMS ratio,
increasing the thermal resistance and hydrophobic properties.
Also determined that water absorption causes the hardness and
stiffness of fiberglass decreased by hardness testing. From the
overall results, the coating can reduce the absorption of
seawater and proven TMOMS and PAM are well mixed
