Abstract

The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) is an indicator used to assess the social welfare of the community. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2018 released TPT data in Indonesia by province which showed that West Java Province had the highest TPT at 8.22. There are four factors of population social indicators which are suspected to influence the open unemployment rate in West Java Province in 2017, namely the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), Dependency Ratio, Average School Duration and Economic Growth Rate. Based on the analysis using scatterplot data that has been obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of West Java Province in 2017 showed no pattern of relations between the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) and the other factors which were thought to be influential so that, in this case, they were used a truncated nonparametric spline regression method. The results of the analysis show that the TPAK variable, Dependency Ratio, Average School Duration and Economic Growth Rate significantly influence the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in West Java Province in 2017 with a coefficient of determination of 95.23.
