Abstract

Sintering merupakan proses penting dalam pembentukan ikatan antar partikel serbuk, sehingga cukup menentukan sifat mekanik dari material frangible tersebut. Sintering frangible bullet dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat continuous furnace. Untuk mendukung produksi dari peluru frangible maka dilakukan perancangan continuous furnace. Perancangan continuous furnace harus mampu mencapai kriteria yang diharapkan. Oleh karena itu diperlakukan perancangan terhadap komponen utama continuous furnace meliputi pra desain, sistem pemanas, sistem insulasi dan sistem material handling. Temperatur zona continuous furnace diperoleh dari simulasi menggunakan software ANSYS. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan temperatur zona yang optimum pada zona pre sinter dan sinter berturut-turut adalah 225 dan 300 oC dengan nilai rata-rata material frangible adalah 210,44 dan 293,52 oC. Validasi hasil desain dilakukan dengan perhitungan heat balance. Perhitungan hasil validasi didapatkan bahwa desain yang dibuat telah tepat, karena memenuhi kriteria Qneed < Qgiven.

Sintering is an important process in bonding between powder particles, so that it is sufficient to determine the mechanical properties of the frangible material. Sintering frangible bullets are carried out using continuous furnace. To support the production of frangible bullets, continuous furnace design is carried out. The design of continuous furnace must be able to reach the expected criteria. Therefore, it discusses the design of main components of continuous furnace such as, pre-design, heating system, insulation system, and material handling system. Continuous furnace temperature zone is obtained from simulations using ANSYS software. From the results of the study it was found that the optimal temperature zone in pre-sintered zone and sintered zone were 225 and 300 oC with average value of the frangible material was 210.44 and 293.52 oC. Validation of design results is done by calculating heat balance. Receiving the validation results obtained by the design that was made is correct, because it met the Qneed < Qgiven criteria.
