Abstract

Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi rekayasa struktur dan material di Indonesia, kini tak lagi hanya menuntut soal mutu tinggi. Tapi juga faktor lingkungan yang berujung pada pencarian bahan alternatif bersifat ramah lingkungan. Di sisi lain, pengelolaan limbah medis di Indonesia merupakan masalah yang cukup besar dan krusial. Per harinya, satu rumah sakit mampu menghasilkan lebih dari satu ton limbah medis. Satu-satunya cara mengelola material limbah sekali pakai ini adalah dengan membakarnya pada mesin insinerator. Yang kemudian akan menghasilkan abu insinerator. Pembuatan prototype pasta semen dengan pengaruh abu limbah medis ini ditujukan untuk mengevaluasi performa kuat tekan pasta semen dengan penambahan abu limbah medis yang didapatkan dari RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Desain komposisi prototype pasta semen dengan abu limbah medis memvariabelkan kadar abu limbah medis mulai dari: 1%, 2%, 4%, dan 6% dari total berat semen yang digunakan. Dengan kondisi FAS yang sama di setiap variabel yaitu sebesar 0,485. Hasil uji karakteristik material, XRD menunjukkan bahwa abu limbah medis kaya akan kandungan Calcite atau kalsium karbonat (CaCO3). Namun, memiliki kadar silika yang rendah yaitu sebesar 2,6% dari hasil tes XRF. Pada pengujian hari ke-3, 28, dan 56, kuat tekan yang dimiliki variabel dengan abu limbah medis menunjukkan hasil yang lebih rendah daripada benda uji normal tanpa abu limbah medis.

High strength quality is not the only concern in this high development of structure and material technology in Indonesia. Also, the environment factor which keeps engineers for searching alternative materials with eco-friendly characteristic. On the other hand, the management of medical waste in Indonesia is a considerable and crucial problem. Each hospital can produce more than one tonnage of medical waste every day. The only way to manage these disposable materials is to burn it in the incinerator. These prototypes of cement paste are made for evaluating the performances of cement paste with addition of medical waste from Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya (RSUD Dr. Soetomo). The design of cement paste prototypes has some variables of medical waste ash start from 1%, 2%, 4%, and 6% of the total weight of cement used. With same FAS (Water to Cement Ratio) condition in each variable, that is 0.485. From XRD result test, shows that medical waste ash rich of Calcite (CaCO3). But, has a small amount of Silica (SiO2) that is 2.6% from XRF test. From compressive strength evaluation, variables with medical waste ash have lower strength than normal prototype without medical waste ash addition.
