Abstract

Kebutuhan tanaman padi semakin meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan laju pertumbuhan penduduk. Perubahan iklim berdampak terhadap naiknya permukaan air laut yang mengakibatkan kondisi tanaman mengalami cekaman salinitas. Upaya pengembangan tanaman padi di lahan salin masih menemui beberapa kendala di antaranya adalah belum banyak informasi mengenai kultivar yang toleran pada kondisi salinitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendapatkan informasi tentang hasil adaptasi dengan lingkungan meliputi morfo-fisiologi akar yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan toleransi salinitas pada beberapa kultivar padi fase vegetatif sebagai upaya efisiensi penyerapan nutrisi guna peningkatan produktivitas tanaman padi pada lahan salin. Metodologi dalam penelitian ini adalah pemilihan benih, persiapan lahan, penyemaian benih, penanaman padi, serta parameter yang diuji meliputi panjang akar, diameter akar, berat basah akar, berat kering akar, dan kerusakan tanaman. Hasil pada penelitian ini terdapat perbedaan secara signifikan pada parameter panjang akar, diameter akar, berat basah akar, dan berat kering akar pada fase vegetatif. Nilai kerusakan tanaman kultivar Pokali dan FL478 menunjukkan nilai toleran lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kultivar IR29 dan Inpara 4. Adanya korelasi antara parameter panjang akar dan biomassa total tanaman serta parameter diameter akar dan biomassa total tanaman dimana korelasi diameter akar dan biomassa total tanaman menunjukkan nilai tertinggi.

The needs of rice plants are increase along with the increase rate of population growth. The impact of climate change is an increase rising sea levels which cause plant conditions to stress salinity. Efforts to develop rice plants on saline land still face several problems include not much information about cultivars that are tolerant to salinity. This experiment purpose are to find out and obtain information about the adaptation to the environment including root morpho-physiology associated with salinity tolerance ability in some rice cultivars in the vegetative phase as an efficiently nutrients use to increase rice productivity on saline fields. The methodology in this experiment were seed selection, land preparation, seed seeding, rice planting, and parameters tested including root length, root diameter, root wet weight, root dry weight, and plant injury. The results of this study have significant differences in the parameters of root length, root diameter, root wet weight, and root dry weight in the vegetative phase. The injury score of Pokali and FL478 cultivars showed tolerant values higher than IR29 and Inpara 4 cultivars. There was a correlation between parameters of root length and total plant biomass as well as parameters of root diameter and plant total biomass where the correlation of root diameter and plant total biomass showed the highest value.
