Abstract

Offshore wind turbines are technology that can be used as a solution for new renewable energy. Wind turbine use kinetic energy of wind that hits the blade then converts it into electrical energy. This research discuss the global motion performance of a floating offshore wind turbine SPAR type in the parking and operation condition. That analysis using software FAST v.8 codes as a coupled. The results of the analysis are presented in the spectral reponses in motion mode surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch dan yaw. The results for parking condition is the most significant difference of motion mode due to differences wind speed variations are sway and heave with the greater the wind speed value regarding the structure, the peak value of the spectral response is greater. While for operation condition the surge motion mode due to load 3 m/s wind speed produce the peak spectral value. Then for sway and roll motion modes, the faster rotor rotation produces the smallest spectral response value. For the heave, pitch, and yaw motion mode the faster rotor rotation makes the peak value of the spectral response. The results of the mooring line tension for parking condition is 1200 kN while in operation condition is 1622 kN. Overall, the FOWT SPAR type response in the parking condition gives a higher response to the peak of the spectral response than the operation conditions, except the heave motion mode.
