Abstract

Wireless networks have developed rapidly and become a part of everyday life. One application of a wireless network is an ad hoc network. Ad hoc network is a network that is formed from communication between nodes or communication devices such as smartphones and computers without the need of a router. One of the most frequently used and widely developed ad hoc network routing protocol is the Ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV). There are a lot of AODV developments by researchers.. One of the them is a development of the AODV algorithm with predicting trend nodes or commonly abbreviated as AODV-PNT which is developed on Vehicular ad hoc networks. Vehicular ad hoc network is an ad hoc network that is used on vehicles to communicate with one another. In AODV-PNT on VANET, route request is modified by adding the Total Weight of the Route (TWR) which considers acceleration, speed, distance between nodes and the quality of communication between nodes. In this undergraduate thesis, the author implemented the modification of existing TWR formula, By adding the density factor of neighbor node, performance of AODV-PNT-MOD which is the modification of AODV-PNT successfully increasing the packet delivery ratio (PDR) of 6.25%, reducing delay, routing overhead (RO), and forwarded route request by 58.22%, 3.58%, and 46,9% compared to AODV better on VANET.
