Abstract

Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) Pangkalan Susu merupakan salah satu pembangkit listrik yang bertugas untuk mensuplai listrik di daerah Sumatera Bagian Utara. Berlokasi di Desa Tanjung Pasir, Kecamatan Pangkalan Susu, Kabupaten Langkat, Provinsi Sumatera Utara, PLTU Pangkalan Susu memanfaatkan batubara rendah kalori (low rank coal) untuk mensuplai listrik dengan daya 2 x 200 Megawatt (MW). Suplai batubara didistribusikan menuju pembangkit listrik melalui coal barge menuju Dermaga PLTU Pangkalan Susu. Salah satu masalah yang mempengaruhi operabilitas dermaga adalah pendangkalan. Oleh karenanya, agar pembangkit listrik dapat beroperasi dengan lancar, maka operabilitas dermaga dalam melayani proses bongkar muat batubara harus terjaga. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan permodelan numerik pada perairan di sekitar PLTU Pangkalan Susu agar dapat mengetahui pola arus, perubahan morfologi, serta laju dan volume sedimentasi yang terjadi. Permodelan dilakukan dengan menggunakan data batimetri, pasang surut periode 24 Mei – 8 Juni 2019, dan data sedimen. Validasi permodelan dilakukan dengan menggunakan data pasang surut melalui metode MAPE. Dalam penelitian ini, laju sedimentasi diamati pada tiga luasan, dimana Area 1 memiliki laju sedimentasi sebesar 0.02082 meter / tahun, Area 2 sebesar 0.02285 meter / tahun, dan Area 3 sebesar 0.033 meter / tahun. Ilustrasi pola arus mengindikasikan bahwa mayoritas sedimen yang memicu laju sedimentasi adalah sedimen dari arah barat dan timur. Perubahan kedalaman yang terjadi di salah satu koordinat, yaitu M92 dan N 54 di depan dermaga adalah sebesar 0.024 meter untuk periode selama satu tahun. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi sedimentasi yang relatif rendah pada perairan PLTU Pangkalan Susu.

The Pangkalan Susu Steam Power Plant (PLTU) is one of the power plants that is tasked with supplying electricity in the North Sumatra area. Located in Tanjung Pasir Village, Pangkalan Susu Subdistrict, Langkat Regency, Province of North Sumatera, this power plant utilizes low rank coal to supply electricity with a power of 2 x 200 Megawatts (MW). The coal supply is distributed to the power plant using the coal barge through the Pangkalan Susu PLTU Pier. Hence, for the power plant to operate smoothly, the operability of the dock in servicing the coal loading and unloading process must be maintained. One of the problems affecting dock operability is siltation. In this study, numerical modeling was carried out in the waters around the Pangkalan Susu PLTU in order to determine the flow patterns, morphological changes, and the rate and volume of sedimentation that occurred. The modeling was carried out using bathymetry data, tidal periods from May 24 to June 8, 2019, and sediment data. Model validation is done by using tidal data through the MAPE method. In this study, the sedimentation rate was observed in three areas, where Area 1 had a sedimentation rate of 0.02082 meters / year, Area 2 was 0.02285 meters / year, and Area 3 was 0.033 meters / year. Illustration of current patterns indicates that the majority of sediments that trigger sedimentation rates are sediments from the west and east. Changes in depth that occur in one of the coordinates, namely M92 and N 54 in front of the pier is equal to 0.024 meters for a period of one year. It can be concluded that sedimentation is relatively low in the waters of the Pangkalan Susu PLTU
