Abstract

Metode deteksi korosi konvensional pada bangunan masih memiliki kekurangan diantaranya terpengaruh medan elektromagnetik, tidak dapat memonitoring secara kontinu, tidak praktis, menggunakan metode invasif, melibatkan radiasi berbahaya, dan terpengaruh oleh cuaca. Sebagai alternatif sensor korosi berbasis serat optik telah dikembangkan dengan kelebihan lebih praktis, tidak terpengaruh medan elektromagnetik, serta dapat memonitoring secara kontinu. Pada penelitian ini serat optik SMS (Singlemode-Multimode coreless-Singlemode) didisain sebagai sensor korosi dengan panjang multimode coreless 30mm. Lapisan tipis Fe dideposisikan melalui metode RF-Sputtering. Monitoring serat optik SMS dilakukan selama uji imersi korosi berdasarkan standar ASTM G31-72 dilakukan pada larutan 3M HCl selama 9 jam. Sensitivitas 0.01031905 dBm/nm dan resolusi 0.062507813% didapatkan sebagai hasil terbaik pada serat optik SMS yang dilapisi ketebalan lapisan tipis Fe 461.67nm.

Conventional Corrosion detection methods have some disadvantages for instance it is impractical, affected by electromagnetic fields and weather, unable for real time monitoring uses, invasive to the steel structure, involving dangerous radiation, etc. As an alternative, corrosion sensor based on optical fiber have been developed to overcome those advantages. In this study, SMS (Singlemode-Multimode coreless-Singlemode) fiber optics coated by Fe thin film were done by immersing it in a solution of 3M HCl for 9 hours complying ASTM G31-72 standard. The best result is obtained by SMS fiber optic cladded by 461.67 nm Fe thin film with sensitivity 0.01031905 dBm/nm and resolution 0.062507813% .
