Abstract
Tanaman porang dapat dijual dalam berbagai bentuk yang memiliki variasi harga yang berbeda-beda. Berdasarkan dari kenaikan harga yang signifikan, petani mulai menjual hasil panen porang dalam bentuk chip porang kering. Proses perajangan dari umbi menjadi chip porang dilakukan dengan manual berkapasitas sangat rendah dan ada dengan mesin berukuran besar sehingga susah untuk dipindahkan dari satu petani ke petani lain. Proses pengeringan dilakukan dengan cara penjemuran dibawah sinar matahari dengan waktu pengeringan maksimal 4 hari. Oleh karena itu dirancang mesin perajang dan pengering umbi porang yang mudah dipindahkan untuk membantu produktivitas para petani umbi porang. Proses pembuatan mesin diawali dengan observasi dan studi literatur mengenai elemen mesin dan perpindahan panas yang dibutuhkan dengan kebutuhan gaya 24.66 kgf, Kemudian didapat konsep mesin perajang dan pengering umbi porang beserta ukuran yang sudah direncanakan. Dilanjutkan dengan memulai membuat alat. Percobaan dan pengujian alat dilakukan setelah mesin jadi. Jika mesin masih belum bekerja secara baik akan dilakukan evaluasi dan perencanaan kembali. Hasil dari perencanaan dan perhitungan, didapatkan mesin perajang yang menggunakan penggerak berupa motor bensin 5,5 Hp, 2 pisau pemotong, putaran 120 rpm, 2 hopper dengan hasil pemotongan memiliki ketebalan 4-6 mm dan memiliki kapasitas 190,89 kg/jam. Pada pengering porang, konsumsi bahan bakar LPG untuk proses pengeringan sebesar 2,41 x 10⁻⁵ kg/s dan dapat menghasilkan chip porang kering sebesar 1,061 kg dalam sekali proses pengeringan.

Porang plants can be sold in various forms by having different price variations. Based on the significant price increase farmers began selling harvesting result in the form of dried porang chips. The process of cutting from tubers to porang chips is done manually by very low capacity and there is also a large sized machine so that it is difficult to move from one farmer to another. While the drying process is done by drying under the sun with drying time of less than 4 days (Yanti, Dinaskeh Kehutanan Nganjuk district). Therefore, chopper machines and porang tubers are easily moved to help the productivity of porang tuber farmers. The machine manufacturing process begins with observations and searches for literature on machine elements needed to design porang cutting and drying machine with 22.1 kgf cutting force, then obtains the machine concept and design of porang cutting and drying machine based on the size which planned. After getting a concept and size, the machine manufacturing starts. Experiments and tests are be able after the machine is made. If the machine is still not working properly, an evaluation and planning back again. The results of planning and calculation, obtained a chopper and dryer machine that uses a drive in the form of a 5.5 hp gasoline motor, 2 cutting blades, 120 rpm rotation, 2 hopper with cutting results 4-6 mm thick and has a capacity of 190.89 kg / hour. While the fuel consumption of LPG porang dryer for the drying process is 2.41 x 10⁻⁵ kg / s and can produce dry chips of 1.061 kg in one drying process.
