Abstract

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) is a autonomous and self-organizing wireless communication network with high mobility dan have patterned movements nodes. Two routing protocols implements on VANETs are Ad-hoc on demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). Both AODV and DSR are reactive routing protocol which form a route on demand when a node needs to send a packet to a destination node. Both have route discover phase where node sends route request and route reply to search for route to destination node. In this final project, both routing protocols are modified. The modified part is route discovery phase. The modification is done by eleminating number of neigboring nodes that assigned to rebroadcast route request. Both modified routing protocols were compared and then analyzed. Based on evaluation, it is found that AODV performance is better in an evironment with scarce nodes and DSR performance is better on an environment with dense nodes.
