Abstract

Panel surya (photovoltaic) adalah suatu sistem atau cara langsung untuk mentransfer radiasi matahari atau energi cahaya menjadi energi listrik. Photovoltaic memiliki karakteristik tegangan output yang berubah sesuai dengan tingkat iradiasi matahari. Ketika tegangan output dari sel surya berada pada nilai yang rendah, diperlukan konverter guna menaikkan tegangan DC tersebut. Terdapat berbagai topologi baru untuk konverter boost yang telah dikembangkan, seperti Flyback Boost Converter, Cascade Boost Converter, Hybrid Transformer Boost Converter, dan juga Quadratic Boost Converter. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, pada proyek akhir ini dirancang dan diimplementasikan Quadratic Converter berdasarkan nilai tegangan yang dihasilkan pada keluaran, yang digunakan pada suatu miniatur PV Farm dengan menggunakan 20 (dua puluh) unit photovoltaic 10 Watt Peak (WP) yang disusun menggunakan metode array. Setelah dilakukan pengujian dan analisis, penggunaan Quadratic Boost Converter yang diusulkan memberikan efisiensi sebesar 82%, hal ini dibuktikan melalui nilai daya dan tegangannya. Penggunaan Quadratic Boost Converter mampu mengoptimalkan tegangan output dan daya panel sebesar 183 Volt dan 70,6 W dengan beban resistor variabel sebesar 474 Ohm.

Solar panels (photovoltaic) are a system or direct method for converting solar radiation or light energy into electrical energy. Photovoltaic panels have output voltage characteristics that change according to the level of solar irradiation. When the output voltage from the solar cell is low, a converter is needed to increase the DC voltage. There are various new topologies for boost converters that have been developed, such as the Flyback Boost Converter, Cascade Boost Converter, Hybrid Transformer Boost Converter, and Quadratic Boost Converter. Based on these conditions, this final project designs and implements a Quadratic Converter based on the voltage value generated at the output, used in a miniature PV Farm consisting of 20 (twenty) units of 10 Watt Peak (WP) photovoltaic panels arranged using an array method. After testing and analysis, the proposed Quadratic Boost Converter achieved an efficiency of 82%, as demonstrated by its power and voltage values. The Quadratic Boost Converter was able to optimize the output voltage and panel power to 183 Volts and 70.6 W, with a variable resistor load of 474 Ohms.
