Abstract
Klenteng Boen Bio merupakan klenteng khusus bagi umat Konghucu terbesar se-Asia Tenggara. Bangunan Cagar Budaya (BCB) ini pernah terpilih pada Unesco Heritage Award, sebab yang memiliki keaslian konservasi bangunan masih terjaga dengan baik sejak didirikan kembali. Klenteng dengan ragam langgam arsitektur dan ornament yang unik menjadi daya tarik tersendiri untuk diapresiasi keindahannya. Media audio visual lebih efektif untuk menyampaikan informasi tersebut. Oleh karena itu dibuat sebuah media yang mampu mendokumentasikan keindahan arsitektur bangunan klenteng Boen Bio, yang ditujukan kepada pelaku penggiat bangunan bersejarah. Media audio visual dipilih karena lebih efektif untuk menyampaikan informasi tersebut.
Metode perancangan film dokumenter meliputi studi literatur, studi eksperimental, depth interview, dan observasi situs bangunan klenteng. Studi literatur berdasar pada buku “Djawa Tempo Doeloe” dan “Boen Bio, Benteng Terakhir Umat Khonghucu”. Studi eksperimental terdiri atas pembuatan naskah dan storyboard film. Depth interview kepada beberapa narasumber, yaitu Tim Cagar Budaya Surabaya, ahli arsitektur, praktisi fengshui, dan ahli film untuk menguji hasil eksperimental yang telah dibuat. Metode observasi yaitu dengan mengamati ornament bangunan, serta langgam gaya arsitektur pada klenteng.
Konsep film dokumenter ini adalah “heritage documentary film” dengan judul “The Privilage of Konghucu Temple, Klenteng Boen Bio” yang berarti menunjukan keistimewaan bangunan klenteng Boen Bio. Film dokumenter ini berdurasi 15 menit terdiri dari 5 babak, antara lain sejarah pembangunan, gaya arsitektur bangunan yang terdiri dari arsitektur Tionghoa, Jawa dan Belanda, ikonografi atau keunikan yang hanya dimiliki oleh klenteng Boen Bio, pembagian ruang, dan makna bangunan dalam topografi china kuno.

Boen Bio Temple is a special temple for the Confucius people. It is the biggest Confucius temple in Southeast Asia. This heritage building was once chosen at the Unesco Heritage Awards because it still has the authenticity of building conservation which is well preserved since it was re-established. This temple has various buildings design styles like on architecture and unique ornaments that become special attraction to be appreciated its beauty. The audio visual media is chosen because it is more effective to deliver those information. Therefore, this is made to document the beauty of architecture of Boen Bio Temple especially for the activists of heritage building.
The planning methods of documentary film consist of literature studies, experimental studies, depth interview, and observation of temple building. Literature studies based on books "Djawa Tempo Doeloe" and "Boen Bio", the last stronghold of Confucius people. Experimental studies consist of making scripts and film storyboards. Depth interview to several keynote speakers such as Surabaya Cultural Heritage Team, Architectural experts, Fengshui practitioners, and film experts to test the experimental results that have been made. Observation methods consist of observing building ornaments and various architecture styles on its temple.
The concept of this documentary film is "heritage documentary film" with the title of "The Privilege of Khonghucu Temple, Boen Bio". It means to describe the authenticity and privileges of Boen Bio Temple. This documentary film is around 15 minutes consist of 5 acts. First, development history. Second, building architecture styles consist of Chinese, Javanese, and Dutch styles. Third, iconography or uniqueness which is only owned by Boen Bion Temple. Fourth, division of space. The last, the meaning of building in ancient Chinese topography.
