Abstract

Korosi merupakan salah satu masalah utama penyebab
terjadinya kerusakan pada peralatan industri. Beberapa faktor
dapat menjadi penyebab korosi, yaitu adanya aliran. Salah satu
cara untuk mengendalikan korosi adalah dengan menambahkan
suatu zat kimia dalam jumlah sedikit ke dalam suatu lingkungan
atau biasa disebut inhibitor. Pada penelitian ini digunakan obat
parasetamol (N-acetyl-4-aminophenol) yang mengandung
senyawa phenol sebagai inhibitor terhadap proteksi korosi baja
API 5L grade B di media lingkungan asam pH 5 dengan adanya
pengaruh aliran dan konsentrasi inhibitor. Digunakan kecepatan
aliran 0 rpm, 200 rpm, dan 400 rpm serta konsentrasi inhibitor 0
ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm, 200 ppm, dan 250 ppm. Untuk
mengetahui pengaruh dan mekanisme inhibitor obat parasetamol
dilakukan melalui pengujian weight loss, polarisasi tafel,
pengujian elektrokimia impedansi dan perhitungan adsorpsi
isothermal Langmuir. Hasil yang didapatkan inhibitor obat
parasetamol mampu bekerja pada kecepatan aliran sampai
dengan 400 rpm dibuktikan dengan efisiensi inhibitor yang
diperoleh sebesar 91.9 % pada kondisi kecepatan aliran 400 rpm
dan konsentrasi inhibitor 250 ppm. Mekanisme inhibisi obat
parasetamol cenderung bersifat fisisorpsi berdasarkan hasil
perhitungan adsorpsi isotherm Langmuir sebesar -7.7 kJ/mol.

Corrosion is one of the main problems which causes defect in
industrial equipment. A few factors could initiate the occurrence
of corrosion, some of them are the presence of flow. One methods
to control corrosion is to add some chemical substances into the
environment, commonly known as inhibitor. In this study,
paracetamol (N-acetyl-4aminophenol) which contains phenol
compound was used as an inhibitor for corrosion protection of
API 5L grade B steel with various flow conditions and inhibitor
concentrations in acidic environment of pH 5. A flow rate of 0
rpm, 200 rpm, and 400 rpm and various inhibitor concentration
of 0 ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm, 200 ppm, and 250 ppm were used in
this research. To determine the effect and mechanism of
paracetamol inhibition, weight loss test, tafel test, polarization
test and Langmuir isotherm adsorption calculation were
conducted. The result obtained was that the paracetamol inhibitor
could work in a flow proven by the efficiency of the inhibitor
obtained at 91.96% in 400 rpm flow rate condition and 250 ppm
inhibitor concentration. Inhibition mechanism of the paracetamol
tended to be physisorption in accordance to Langmuir
adsorption isotherm calculation at -7.7 kJ/mol.
