Abstract

Hidroksiapatit merupakan salah satu mineral penyusun tulang dan
gigi yang sudah banyak diaplikasikan sebagai graft sintetik.
Dikarenakan keterbatasan pada sifat mekaniknya, maka mulai
dikembangkan Hidroksiapatit didoping Zinc (HA-Zn) untuk
meningkatkan sifat tersebut. Penambahan kitosan diharapkan
akan memperbaiki sifat antibakteri HA-Zn. Dalam penelitian ini
akan dianalisa pengaruh persen berat kitosan terhadap sifat
biokompatibilitas komposit Kitosan-HA-Zn (K/HA-Zn). Sintesis
HA-Zn dilakukan menggunakan metode solgel. Pembuatan
komposit K/HA-Zn dengan cara mencampur kitosan dalam asam
asetat kemudian ditambahkan dengan HA-Zn. Sampel kemudian
diuji menggunakan FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDAX, Uji Antibakteri,
dan SBF. Pengujian biokompatibilitas menunjukkan bahwa
aktivitas antibakteri efektif terhadap E.coli. Selain itu, ditemukan
lapisan apatit pada permukaan komposit menandakan bioaktifitas
yang baik dengan komposisi optimal pada penambahan 10% berat
kitosan.

Hydroxyapatite is one of constituent minerals of teeth and bone
and already been widely used for synthetic bone graft. Due to the
limitation on mechanical properties, researchers started to
develop Zinc doped Hydroxyapatite (HA-Zn) to increase its
mentioned properties. Addition of chitosan was expected to
improve antibacterial properties of HA-Zn. The aim of the
research is to analyze the effect of chitosan addition on
biocompatibility properties of chitosan-HA-Zn (K/HA-Zn)
composite. HA-Zn was synthesized using solgel method. K/HA-Zn
composite was made by mixing chitosan in acetic acid then HAZn
was added into the mixture. It is then characterized using
XRD,FTIR, SEM-EDAX, Antibacterial testing, and SBF.
Biocompatibility analysis showed that antibacterial activity was
effective against E.Coli. In addition, apatite layer was seen on
composite surface indicating good bioactivity with optimal
composition on the addition of 10 percent weight of chitosan.
