Abstract

By 2015 Indonesia must be ready to welcome Asean (Association of
South East Asian Nations) free trade era. Students in higher education level hold
very important role in improving the human resource quality in term of its
competitiveness. University has an important role in fulfilling such demand.
Hence universities are always expected to provide effective learning processes,
comprehensive assessments as well as improving students’ soft skills in order to
develop their mental readiness. This study attempts to find out the influence of
learning aspects consisting of three domains, namely cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor as well as students’ emotional quotient to the corresponding
academic performance. In addition, the influence of student demographic factors
such as marriage status and umur are considered as moderating variables in order
to represent the complexity in the real students’ environment.
In this study, the method used is Moderating Structural Equation
Modelling (MSEM-PLS) with do confirmatory model based on existing theories
or previous studies as a reference in establishing a research construct. Results of
this study indicate a contribution or influence aspects of learning and emotional
intelligence in improving the academic performance of students by presenting the
influence of demographic factors as moderating variable student. It can be
concluded that the student demographic factors can be moderating variable
between aspects of learning and emotional intelligence of the students' academic
performance.
