Abstract

Dalam ruang lingkup akustik, pemilihan material akustik
sangatlah penting untuk menyelesaikan masalah cacat akustik.
Gypsum sangat baikdalam menginsulasi bunyi, namun gypsum
diperjelas. Penambahan material serbuk kulit kerang hijau mampu
menjadikan bahan insulator tidak reflektif.

In the scope of acoustic, acoustic material selection is
very important to solve the acoustic defect problem. Gypsum is
very good for sound insulation, but its reflective
propertiescancause echoes in the room. This report represents the
results of research on the utilization of green mussel shell (Perna
viridis)powder as an alternative material for insulating and
absorbing sound. Research was conducted at Acoustic Laboratory
of Physics Department ITS, by α and TL testing. The material
testing dimension forα testing is 3cm × 3cm with the thickness of
12 mm. The foam agent variations used in this research are with
foam and without foam. While material testing dimension for TL
testing is 60cm × 60 cm with the thickness of 12mm. The
variations of composition percentage between green mussel shell
powder and gypsum are 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. In the 4th
material, with composition of 75% green mussel shell and 25%
gypsum, the most optimal improving value ofα at low frequencies
was obtained. On the other hand, in the 5th material, with
composition of 100% green mussel shell, the most optimal
improving value of α at high frequencies was obtained. The
adding of 1.2gram agent foam has increased Δ4cm of material
thickness and has also increased the value of α for Δ0.244. From
viii
the experimental result, an anomaly has occurredon the contour
pattern of TL in 2nd material (75%gypsum and 25% green mussel
shell). However, STC contour is divided into three parts. The
highest value of STC is in the 4th material(75% green mussel shell
and 25% gypsum),with the value of 37 dB, andincreasing
percentage of 1.42% and Δ11. It can be concluded that the 4th
material is good to be used asan insulator in loud and not clear
sound. The addition of green mussel shell powder can makean
insulating material non-reflective.
