Abstract
Asam salisilat memiliki karakterisitik antara lain berbentuk
serbuk kristal, warna putih dan meleleh pada suhu 157-159 oC. Pabrik
ini mengunakan proses karboksilasi Kolbe-Schmitt dan mempunyai
kapasitas sebesar 91200 kg asam salisilat/hari. Lokasi pendirian pabrik
di kawasan industri Cilegon dipilih berdasarkan ketersediaan bahan
baku, air dan kemudahan transportasi.
Dalam proses pembuatan asam salisilat ini meliputi tiga tahap,
yaitu pembentukkan natrium phenolate, natrium salisilat dan asam
salisilat. Pada tahap pembentukkan natrium phenolate, phenol
direaksikan dengan larutan NaOH 55% kondisi operasi 90C 1 atm.
Pada tahap pembentukkan natrium salisilat, natrium phenolate
direaksikan dengan gas CO2 pada kondisi operasi 175C 4 atm. Pada
tahap pembentukkan asam salisilat,natrium salisilat direaksikan dengan
H2SO4 98% pada kondisi operasi 60C 1 atm.
Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi selama 330 hari /tahun
dan 24 jam /hari. Total bahan baku utama yang dibutuhkan sebesar
17478,13 kg/hari dengan bahan baku pendukung yaitu karbon aktif.
Kebutuhan utilitasnya adalah air sanitasi, air boiler, air pendingin, dan
air proses yaitu masing-masing sebesar 84 m3/hari, 3152,8 m3/hari,
509,22 m3/hari, dan 928,32 m3/hari

The characteristic of salicylic acid are crystal powder, white, and
melt in temperature of 157-159 oC. This salicylic acid plant use Kolbe-
Schmitt carboxylation process with a capacity of 91200 kg salicylic
acid/hour. This plant located in Cilegon, the location is chosen for its
raw material and water avaliability, also the ease of transportation.
Salicylic acid production process consists of 3 stages, which are
formation of sodium phenolate, sodium salisilate and salicylic acid. In
the formation of sodium phenolate, phenol is reacted with NaOH 55%
process at 90C 1 atm. In the formation of sodium salisilate, the sodium
phenolate is reacted with CO2 with a process at 175C 4 atm. In the
formation of salicylic acid, the sodium salisilate is reacted with H2SO4
98% with a process at 60C 1 atm.
This plant is projected to operate batch for 24 hours/day and 330
days/year. This plant required 17478,13 kg/day of raw material and
activated carbon as the supporting materials. The water utilities
required for this plant are sanitation water, boiler water, cooling water,
and process water respectively by 84 m3/day, 3152,8 m3/day, 509,22
m3/day, and 928,32 m3/day
