Abstract
Chloropac adalah alat pada chlorination plant yang memiliki
fungsi untuk memproduksi sodium hipoklorit (NaOCl). Sodium
hipoklorit dihasilkan dari elektrolisis air laut yang memiliki
manfaat untuk melemahkan biota laut, seperti kerang, remis, dan
udang kecil. Chloropac atau yang lebih dikenal dengan
Chlorination Plant di PLTGU PT. PJB UP Gresik bekerja dengan
tegangan 65 V, arus 4000 A dan temperatur 50oC. Namun, pada
penggunaanya sering kali mengalami kebocoran baik Inner
maupun Outer Tube yang berbahan titanium dengan umur guna
hanya sekitar 5 – 12 bulan, dengan desain pemakaian yang
seharusnya bisa mencapai 5 tahun. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan
analisis kegagalan outer tube dengan pengujian XRF, metalografi,
XRD, pengujian kandungan air laut, SEM, dan Hardness. Dari
hasil pengujian XRF bersesuaian dengan Titanium grade 2. Hasil
pengamatan XRD terdapat pengurangan senyawa. Faktor yang
menyebabkan kegagalan material pada outer tube adalah Hydrogen
Embrittlement yang disebabkan oleh kenaikan temperatur dan
kemunculan hydrid needle pada permukaan hasil pengujian
metalografi. Selain itu, terbentuk pola patahan pada material yang
bersifat patah ulet dengan ditandai alur patahan vertikal dari hasil
pengujian SEM, serta terjadi penurunan kekerasan

hypochlorite is produced from the electrolysis of seawater that
have benefits to weaken marine life, such as clams, mussels, shrimp
and small. Chloropac or better known as Chlorination Plant in Gas
Fired Power Plant PT. PJB UP Gresik Working with a voltage of
65 V, current 4000 A and a temperature of 50 ° C. However, on its
use often leak both Inner and Outer Tube is made of titanium with
age to only about 5-12 months, with a design that should be able
to use up to 5 years. In this research, failure analysis of outer tube
with XRF testing, metallography, XRD, testing sea water, SEM,
and Hardness Test.. From the XRF test results corresponding to
Titanium grade 2. XRD observations are the reduction of
compounds in accordance with the theory. Factors that lead to
failure of the material in the outer tube is Hydrogen embrittlement
caused by rising temperatures and the appearance of the surface
of the hydride needle. In addition, in the failed material, formed
patterns that are ductile fracture with marked grooves vertical
fracture of the test results SEM, as well as a reduction in hardness
number Vickers
