Abstract

Currently the use of direct current (DC) electric motors in the industrial world, transportation, and household appliances is increasingly increasing. One type of electric motor that is widely used is the BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor. One method of regulating BLDC motor speed is the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method in which the BLDC motor speed regulation is directly proportional to the width of the duty cycle of the PWM generated. In order to obtain motor speed performance with relatively small error values, it is necessary to have an appropriate controller to adjust the duty cycle of the PWM signal so that the motor speed is obtained according to the setpoint. Incorrect controller that can be used to set the PWM duty cycle using the PID controller with the Ziegler-Nichols method. In this study a BLDC motor speed regulation method with a PID controller is designed and implemented using Real Time Windows Target on Simulink using the PCI 1710HG interface in order to get the BLDC motor speed performance according to the desired speed (setpoint). In this research, we obtained BLDC motor speed performance data without using a controller with an error of 30.4%. Then by using the PID controller the BLDC motor speed performance was obtained with an error of 3.8%. Thus the use of a PID controller is proven to be able to improve the speed performance of a BLDC motor
