Abstract

================================================================================================================================
PT Petrokimia Gresik is the most complete fertilizer producer in Indonesia. One of the products that has the highest production capacity is NPK Phonska fertilizer. The production process of NPK Phonska fertilizer produces exhaust emissions from the process of dryer, scrubber, absorber, and fossil fuels as electricity generation. Emissions resulting from the production process can have an effect on air pollution both in the scope of the plant and globally. This study aims to identify the environmental impact caused by the production process of NPK Phonska fertilizer through the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), with the Gate to Gate system. The first stage of the study is calculate the load emissions, then recapitulate data on raw materials, energy, products, and emissions. The data is entered at the life cycle inventory stage in software SimaPro 9.0.0. Based on the results of LCI, impacts were identified at the life cycle impact assessment stage using TRACI 2.1 and CML 1992 methods. The results of impact identification refer to the determination of the process hotspot and impact hotspot points. The next step is to determine alternative improvements based on literature studies and suggestions from PT Petrokimia Gresik. The results of the calculation of emissions load in the production process of NPK Phonska fertilizer amounted to 36.059.112 kg CO2/year, 7.260 kg CH4/year, 4.600 kg N2O/year, 5.653,81 kg NH3/year, 965,8 kg F-/year, and 82.783,6 kg of particulates/year. Based on the results of running SimaPro software with the TRACI 2.1 method, the point of the hotspot process is the pre-neutralizer unit with the hotspot impact is ecotoxicity. Whereas with the 1992 CML method, the point of the hotspot process is a dryer unit with the hotspot impact is energy resources. There are 3 alternative repairs that can be applied, replacing with new equipment, scheduling preventive maintenance, and repairing insulation on steam pipes, preventing leakage and improving behavior.
