Abstract

Electrically conducting materials from organic materials such as rice husks can be used instead of chemicals. Rice husk is a source of carbon which is a good conductor of electricity. In addition, rice husks also contain silica with a porous structure. In this research, silica and carbon synthesis from rice husk was carried out. Silica is extracted using the sol gel method and carbon is synthesized using the hydrothermal carbonization method. Hydrothermal carbonization temperature varies from 150 ° C-350 ° C. Furthermore, silica and carbon are processed into silica-carbon composites. This study aims to analyze the effect of hydrothermal carbonization temperature on pore characteristics and carbon silica composite capacitance so that it can be used as an energy storage material. XRD and FTIR test results showed that silica and carbon were successfully synthesized. SEM test results show that the sample has an irregular porous structure. From the CV test results, the highest capacitance value is found in the SiO2-C-350 sample with a value of 38,652 F / g. This material cannot be applied as an energy storage material because the capacitance value is still small.
