Abstract
Dalam penelitian ini telah dilakukan perancangan pabrik bioetanol dari tongkol jagung dengan proses termo-biokimia berkapasitas produk sebesar 15.000 kl/tahun, waktu operasi 24 jam dan 300 hari/tahun. Tujuan perancangan pabrik bioetanol ini adalah untuk memenuhi 17,5% dari total kebutuhan etanol dalam negeri. Pabrik bioetanol ini direncanakan akan didirikan di Kabupaten Tuban, Jawa Timur. Alasan pemilihan tempat ini adalah karena potensi bahan baku yang tersedia mampu memenuhi kebutuhan ketersediaan bahan baku tongkol jagung untuk pabrik bioetanol, dekat dengan pasar, dan saranaprasarana yang mendukung. Pembuatan bioetanol dari tongkol jagung ini dipilih proses termo-biokimia. Proses dalam pabrik ini terdiri dari 4 tahap utama yaitu tahap pretreatment, tahap gasifikasi, fermentasi, dan pemurnian. Sumber dana investasi berasal dari modal sendiri sebesar 60% biaya investasi dan modal pinjaman sebesar 40% biaya investasi dengan bunga sebesar 9,75% per tahun. Dari análisis perhitungan ekonomi didapat hasil investasi Rp 139.24.579.000,00, dengan IRR 25,3 %, POT 8 tahun 7 bulan dan BEP 52,86 %.

This work has finished the preliminary design of bioethanol plant from corn cob waste with thermos-biochemical process which produces 15.000 kl ethanol per year and operates for 24 hours during 300 days a year. The purpose of this plant design is to supply 17,5% of total ethanol needs in Indonesia. This bioethanol plant is planned to be built in Tuban, East Java. The location is selected because of its huge amount of corn cobs as the main raw material, good marketing and distribution aspects, and adequate supportive facilities and utilities. The chosen process of the bioethanol production is the thermo-biochemical process, which involves four main processes: pretreatment, gasification, fermentation, and purification. The investment charge is obtained as much as 60% from own modal and 40% from loans with the interest rate of 9,75% per year. It can be identified from the economic analysis that this chemical plant needs Rp139.24.579.000,00 for its total capital investment, IRR value of 25,3%, POT after 8 years and 7 months, and BEP as much as 52,86%.
