Abstract

menjadi sistem dual fuel.
Start of injection yang
=================================================================================================
Potential benefits of using compressed natural gas (CNG) in diesel engine
with dual fuel system is more economical and environmentally friendly. But there
are still problems in the application of dual fuel systems today, namely performance
tends to decrease during the low load and acceleration (additional speed on
automotive engines or addition of load on the engine stationary). This study aimed
to improve diesel engine performance dual fuel system type of low pressure injected
gas (LPIG) diesel and CNG are performed on single cylinder diesel engine that has
been modified into a dual fuel system.
This study was carried out experimentally by injecting CNG through the
injector into the intake manifold is controlled using a programmable ECU. The
method used to determine the optimum setting values is to do a mapping start of
injection and injection duration CNG through VEMSTUNE software on the
computer. Start of injection were used in this study was 35 °, 40 ° and 45 ° after top
dead center (ATDC) and injection duration by 25, 23 and 21 milliseconds (ms).
Testing is done with a constant engine speed at 1500 rpm and load varies from 500
Watt to 4000 Watt at intervals of 500 Watt.
The results obtained from the study showed that the most optimal setting
occurs at the start of injection 45 ° ATDC with duration of injection 25 ms, which
is an increase SFC average dual fuel smallest at 31.51%. This reduces the solar SFC
average of 55.64% or substitution of solar fuel by CNG amounted to 47.15%.
