Abstract

Pengaruh suhu terhadap inhibisi kitosan pada korosi
tinplate dalam larutan garam beryodium telah diteliti dengan
menggunakan metode pengurangan berat dan metode polarisasi
potensiodinamik. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan media
larutan 2% NaCl + 10 mg/L Kitosan sebagai inhibitor dengan
variasi konsentrasi KI dan variasi suhu. Hasil penelitian ini
menunjukkan bahwa efisiensi inhibisi kitosan meningkat dengan
adanya penambahan KI pada larutan media korosi pada kondisi
suhu yang sama. Efisiensi inhibisi kitosan menurun dengan
adanya peningkatan suhu pada larutan media korosi yang sama.
Berdasarkan hasil metode pengurangan berat, efisiensi inhibisi
kitosan dapat meningkat hingga 33,33% pada suhu 30°C dalam
larutan media korosi dengan adanya 40 mg/L KI. Hasil metode
polarisasi potensiodinamik juga menunjukkan efisiensi inhibisi
kitosan dapat meningkat hingga 91,49% pada suhu 30°C dalam
larutan media korosi dengan adanya 40 mg/L KI.

Influence of temperature on the inhibition of chitosan on
tinplate corrosion in a solution of iodized salt has been
investigated by using weight loss method and potentiodynamic
polarization method. This study was conducted using a 2% NaCl
solution medium + 10 mg/L Chitosan as inhibitors with KI
concentration variations and temperature variations. These results
indicate that inhibition efficiency of chitosan increased with the
addition of KI in corrosion media solution at the same
temperature conditions. Chitosan inhibition efficiency decreased
with increased temperature on a solution of the same corrosive
media. Based on the results of weight reduction methods, chitosan
inhibition efficiency can be increased up to 33.33% at 30°C in a
solution of corrosive media in the presence of 40 mg/L KI.
Potentiodynamic polarization method results also showed
inhibition efficiency of chitosan can be increased up to 91.49% at
30°C in solution of corrosive media in presence of 40 mg/L KI.
