Abstract
Aksara Jawa merupakan salah satu kebudayaan asli Indonesia yang patut
dilestarikan. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu aksara Jawa semakin ditinggalkan.
Aksara Jawa sebenarnya tidak dikatakan menghilang, hanya mengalami
akulturasi, yaitu menipisnya pemahaman masyarakat akan budaya sendiri.
Sebagian besar siswa di sekolah masih mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar
membaca aksara jawa karena semakin tinggi tingkat pendidikannya, semakin
berkurang pula materi aksara jawa yang diberikan. Dampak yang terjadi adalah
siswa kurang paham dalam membedakan bentuk aksara jawa sehingga mengalami
kesulitan dalam membaca aksara jawa. Tahapan pengumpulan data diperoleh
langsung melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada target audiens di Surabaya,
wawancara mendalam kepada pengajar Bahasa Jawa, melakukan studi eksisting
dan komparatif terhadap media pembelajaran lainnya, dan studi literatur dengan
mengumpulkan berbagai data dari buku dan internet. Dengan menggunakan media
pembelajaran berupa board game edukasi, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat
pada aksara jawa, meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dalam membedakan hurufhuruf
yang hampir sama bentuknya, memudahkan siswa dalam belajar membaca
Aksara Jawa, menimbulkan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan, serta dapat
dijadikan metode belajar yang menarik dan mudah dipahami.

Javanese letters is one of the original Indonesian tradition to be preserved.
However, as time goes by, javanese letters is being left out, experiencing
acculturation, namely the depletion of understanding of the culture itself. A large
number of students experiencing difficulties in reading and differentiating
javanese letters as a result of most school which are reducing time to teach
Javanese. Data collected by directly distribute questionnaires to target audiences
in Surabaya, in depth interview with Javanese teacher, conduct existing and
comparative studies of teaching media, and studying data literature gathered
from books and internet. By using board game as teaching media, it is expected to
increase students interest in javanese letters, enhance students understanding in
distinguishing almost identical in shape letters, help students learn to be able to
read javanese letters, creating a fun learning environment, and can be used as an
interesting and easy to understand teaching method.
