Abstract

Besarnya Fuel Oil Consumption (FOC) di kapal, jumlah demand BBM
yang besar dibandingkan dengan ketersediaan, serta kebutuhan
modernisasi transportasi laut harus segera diwujudkan dalam
pembangunan nasional menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Untuk
menyelesaikan masalah tersebut dibuat penelitian tentang penggunaan
dual fuel (DF) untuk transportasi laut. Dalam penelitian ini dirumuskan
rumusan masalah yaitu bagaimanakah modifikasi sistem yang dilakukan
untuk fuel system pada konversi single fuel (SF) ke DF (HSD-LNG),
berapakah FOC untuk SF dan DF (HSD-LNG) sebelum dan setelah
dilakukan konversi, serta bagaimanakah perbandingan kajian ekonomis
dari konversi SF ke DF (HSD-LNG). Metode yang digunakan adalah
teoritis perhitungan serta studi lapangan. Kapal yang dikonversi adalah
kapal ferry lintasan Merak-Bakauheni dengan sample tiga kapal ukuran
yang berbeda. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu modifikasi dilakukan dengan
menambahkan gas transfer dari storage menuju ke main engine meliputi
LNG Storage, LNG Cryogenic Pump, Heat Exchanger, Gas Valve Unit
(GVU), dan Conversion System. Untuk penghematan yang dilakukan dari
FOC adalah rata-rata 46,79% dari ketiga kapal

with the avaliability on global energy and modernization of sea
transportation units that should be realized on Indonesia development
program are the main background for this research. The new marine
technology to reduce FOC is using Dual Fuel System for the engine
operation. Refer to previous research, dual fuel system can reduce the total
FOC and more efficient in cost operational. This research discuss regard to
how to modified single fuel (SF) to dual fuel (DF) system using HSD and
LNG as fuelled vessel, FOC comparation between SF to DF, and
economical analysis SF and DF system. For the methodes using theoritical
and field study for the valid system. For the vessel that will be discussed
are three vessel on Merak-Bakauheni voyage as the sample of the ferry in
Indonesia by three class of the difference load. The result, modification
conducted by modified engine and install gas transfer from LNG storage
to main engine consist of LNG tank, LNG Cryopump, Vaporization Units
(Heat Exchanger), Gas Valve Units (GVU) and Conversion Units. Total of
the saving cost of FOC is 46,79%
