Abstract
Bahan bakar compressed natural gas (CNG) merupakan bahan bakar yang banyak digunakan pada mobil, bus dan kendaraan besar lainnya. Bahan bakar ini jika ditinjau dari ekonomis tergolong sangat murah dan ramah lingkungan. Namun, pengaplikasian bahan bakar gas CNG pada generator diesel dengan sistem dual fuel berdampak pada penurunan performansinya. Hal ini terjadi karena rasio campuran udara dan bahan bakar pada sistem dual fuel belum sesuai, sehingga perlunya penelitian lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan performa pada mesin diesel dengan memodifikasi saluran masuk udara dengan memasang injector gas CNG untuk memasukkan bahan bakar tersebut kedalam ruang bakar sehingga mesin diesel berubah menjadi sitem dual fuel. Tidak hanya saluran masuk udara saja yang di modifikasi tetapi, variasi start of injection dan tekanan gas yang masuk juga di variasikan. Penelitian ini di lakukan secara eksperimental dengan menginjeksikan gas CNG ke dalam ruang bakar melalui saluran hisap yang sudah terpasang injector. Proses pengaturan injeksi gas CNG diatur oleh ECU programamble melalui software VEMSTUNE. Sistem pengaturan yang dilakukan adalah mengatur derajat waktu injection (SOI) dengan nilai 5o , 30o , 55o , dan 80o CA BTDC dan variasi tekanan masuk gas CNG dengan nilai 1, 1,5, 2, dan 2,5 N/m2 . Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan putaran mesin konstan sebesar 2000 rpm dengan beban 0 sampai 100 %.

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is the most used fuel for cars, buses and other motor vehicles. Through economic approach, this fuel is classified as an affordable and environmental friendly energy resource. However, the application of CNG fuel on diesel generator with dual fuel system resulted in a decrement of performance. This happens because the air and fuel ratio is not right enough for optimal burning, and leads to the need of further research. This research aims on increasing the performance of a diesel engine by modifying the air input duct using CNG gas injector installation, which is to inject the fuel into the combustion chamber. Thus, the engine becomes a dual fuel system engine. Not only the input air ductflow that is modified, but also the variations start of injection and gas pressured areare taken place. This research is carried out experimentally by injecting CNG gas into the combustion chamber, through the suction duct, that has been installed by the injector. The CNG gas injection is controlled by programmable ECU using the VEMSTUNE software. The control system is done by setting injection time degree (SOI), which are 5o , 30o , 55o , and 80o CA BTDC, and gas pressure variations, 1, 1,5, 2, and 2,5 N/m2 . This experiment is conducted on a 2000 rpm engine radial velocity and a 0 until 100% load.
