Abstract

Paiton ( Probolinggo, Jawa Timur).data penyakit karang

Coral diseases has been implicated in the rapid and
severe decline in coral cover and drastic community changes
and regarded as one of the main factors contributing to the
global deterioration of coral reefs; which increases
temperatures was also known to induce the spreading of coral
disease by increasing the transmission rate and also the growth
rate of the pathogens.
A study to access the effect of increasing temperature
on prevalence of coral diseases had been conducted on March
to June 2015 in Paiton steam power plant coastal waters
(Probolinggo, East Java). Data of diseases on branching coral
were collected by a belt transect from two sampling periods at
two different locations; which estimated to representing
polluted (Water Discharge Area) and unpolluted area
(Mercusuar).
Result of two-way Anova continued with Tukey HSD
test(both at p = 0,05%) suggested thatthere is no significant
difference in the prevalence of diseases. How ever, the value of
prevalence is relatively higher in Water Dischage area than
Mercusuar area (by 35 and 24,71%, respectively). The type of
band diseases found to be occurred in the area are Black Band
Disease (BBD) and White Band Disease (WBD)
