Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh
waktu kristalisasi terhadap sintesis zeolit Y dari kaolin secara
langsung (tanpa metakaolinisasi). Zeolit Y disintesis melalui tiga
tahap, yaitu pembuatan seed gel, pembuatan feedstock gel dan
pembuatan overall gel yang diikuti dengan proses hidrotermal.
Padatan hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan
spektroskopi infra merah (FTIR), difraksi sinar-X (XRD),
Scanning Electron Microscopy–Energy Dispersive X-ray
(SEM-EDX). Hasil karakterisasi XRD dan FTIR
menunjukkan bahwa fase zeolit Y terbentuk pada waktu
kristalisasi 4-12 jam dengan intensitas yang semakin meningkat
dan mengalami penurunan pada waktu 18-24 jam. Fase pengotor
zeolit P terbentuk pada waktu kristalisasi 4-12 jam, setelah itu
mengalami penurunan pada waktu 18-24 jam. Fase pengotor lain
hidroksi sodalit terbentuk dengan intensitas yang meningkat pada
waktu 4-24 jam. Waktu kristalisasi tidak begitu berpengaruh
terhadap perbedaan ukuran agregat partikel dan rasio SiO2/Al2O3
produk yang dihasilkan.

The purpose of this research was to study the effect of
crystallization time on the direct synthesis of zeolite Y from
kaolin (without metakaolination). Zeolite Y was synthesized
through three stages, namely compounding seed gel,
compounding feedstock gel and making overall gel followed by
hydrothermal process. Solid products obtained were characterized
using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD),
Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEMEDX). The result of XRD and FTIR characterization indicate that
the zeolite Y phase formed with increasing of intensity at
crystallization time 4-12 hours and decreased at 18-24 hours.
Impurity phase zeolite P formed at crystallization time 4-12
hours, after that it decreased at 18-24 hours. Another impurity
phases hydroxy sodalite formed with increasing intensity at 4-24
hours. Crystallization time difference was not so influential on
aggregate particle size and ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 of products.
