Abstract

Konsentrasi amonia dalam air baku setelah adsorpsi mencapai 0,02 mg/L sehingga sesuai baku mutu Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 tahun 2001 dan Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 907/Menkes/SK/VII/2002.

Ammonia is very poisonous if its presence exceeds the quality standard threshold so that river water must be treated before it is used as raw water. This research succeeded in reducing the concentration of ammonia in the raw water of the PDAM Surya Sembada Surabaya by the adsorption method using Bidara leaves Bio-Adsorbent (Ziziphus mauritiana). The adsorption method used is a batch with adsorption parameters were variations contact time, the mass of adsorbent, initial concentration of NH4Cl and pH. Ammonia absorbance in raw water before and after adsorption was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a maximum wavelength of 382 nm. The results showed that the highest value of %removal and adsorption capacities were obtained 94,92% and 0,60 mg/g, at optimum conditions for contact time 80 minutes, mass adsorbent 0,20 g, initial concentration of NH4Cl 10 mg/L (NH3 3,18 mg/L), and pH 8. %Removal and adsorption capacity of ammonia in raw water at optimal conditions were obtained 98,60% and 0,30 mg/g. After adsorption, the concentration of ammonia in raw water reaches 0,02 mg/L so that it conforms to the quality standards threshold in Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 Tahun 2001 and Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 907/Menkes/SK/VII/2002.
