Abstract
Paduan magnesium merupakan salah satu biomaterial yang telah banyak diteliti karena berpeluang sebagai biodegradable implant. Namun, magnesium beserta paduannya memiliki nilai laju degradasi yang tinggi, sehingga dibutuhkan perlakuan permukaan berupa Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation untuk meningkatkan ketahanan degradasinya. Tujuan dari paper review ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama waktu oksidasi terhadap fasa yang terbentuk, morfologi, dan laju degradasi paduan magnesium dengan metode PEO. Metode yang digunakan dalam penyusunan paper review ini ialah studi literatur beserta analisis dan perbandingan dari sumber ilmiah. Berdasarkan review yang dilakukan didapat bahwa lama waktu oksidasi cenderung akan membentuk lapisan kristalin lebih banyak dengan meningkatkan intensitas peaksnya pada uji XRD. Berdasarkan perbandingan hasil uji SEM didapat bila semakin lamanya waktu oksidasi yang diberikan cenderung meningkatkan diamater pori yang terbentuk, namun jumlah pori akan semakin sedikit. Lamanya waktu oksidasi yang diberikan juga cenderung akan mempertebal lapisan oksida yang terbentuk. Magnesium alloy is one of the biomaterials that has been widely studied because of its potential as a biodegradable implant. However, magnesium and its alloys have a high degradation rate, so a surface treatment of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation is needed to increase its resistance to degradation. The purpose of this review paper is to determine the effect of oxidation time on the phases formed, morphology, and the rate of degradation of magnesium alloys by the PEO method. The method used in the preparation of this review paper is the study of literature along with analysis and comparison from scientific sources. Based on the review, it was found that the oxidation time tends to form more crystalline layers by increasing the intensity of the peaks in the XRD test. Based on comparison of SEM test results, it is found that the longer the oxidation time given tends to increase the diameter of the pore formed, but the number of pores will be less. The length of time of oxidation given also tends to thicken the oxide layer that is formed. In degradation resistance, optimal oxidation time can reduce the rate of degradation due to the small icorr value. This can reduce the rate of degradation in potentiodynamic polarization test
